Veterinary Ownership Transparency
Ownership Roster
Many veterinary hospitals look local from the outside. Some are independently owned. Others are connected to corporate chains, private-equity-backed platforms, venture-capital-funded companies, retail pet companies, or veterinary support organizations.
It is not an attack on veterinarians, technicians, receptionists, assistants, managers, or hospital staff. Many excellent veterinary professionals work inside corporate-owned hospitals. This roster focuses on ownership transparency.
How to read this roster
The hospitals below are grouped by public ownership signal. A listing does not mean the hospital provides poor care. A listing means public sources, corporate pages, job postings, acquisition announcements, ownership-transparency resources, or related public information connect the hospital to a larger ownership or support platform.
Pet owners should verify ownership directly with the hospital.
Local-facing hospital names with public corporate, PE, VC, retail, or VSO signals
These entries are especially important for consumer transparency because the hospital name may sound local even when public sources connect it to a larger ownership or support organization.

What this roster does not claim
This roster does not claim that:
- Every listed hospital provides poor care.
- Every listed veterinarian is influenced by corporate ownership.
- Every listed hospital has worse medicine than an independent hospital.
- Corporate ownership automatically means bad medicine.
- Independent ownership automatically means better medicine.
Veterinary quality depends on many factors: doctors, technicians, systems, leadership, training, staffing, equipment, communication, culture, and accountability.
Why ownership transparency matters
Ownership can influence the business model behind veterinary care. Depending on the organization, ownership may affect:
- Pricing models
- Staffing budgets
- Appointment length
- Doctor compensation and production targets
- Treatment-plan protocols
- Pharmacy policies
- Online pharmacy strategy
- Referral pathways
- Emergency and specialty access
- Local decision-making
- Client communication
- Continuity of care
The concern is not the doctor in the exam room. The concern is whether pet owners know who controls the business structure behind the exam room.
Questions to ask any veterinary hospital
- Are you independently owned?
- If not, who owns or financially backs this hospital?
- Is ownership disclosed on your website?
- Who sets pricing?
- Who controls staffing budgets?
- Are veterinarians given production or revenue targets?
- Are treatment protocols controlled locally or by a parent company?
- Who owns or controls your online pharmacy?
- Are referral pathways influenced by ownership relationships?
- How can clients verify your ownership structure?
Correction policy
We welcome corrections. If any hospital believes its ownership status is incorrect, please send written correction with supporting public documentation. We will review and update the roster promptly if warranted.
Disclaimer
This site is a consumer-education resource about veterinary ownership transparency. It is not a ranking of medical quality and it is not an attack on veterinarians or hospital staff.
Many excellent veterinary professionals work inside corporate-owned, private-equity-backed, venture-backed, retail-owned, and VSO-affiliated hospitals.
Before you book, ask: Are you independently owned?
